Name: Kairi
Fandom: Kingdom Hearts
Timeline: End of Kingdom Hearts 2
Age: 15
Appearance: This is
Kairi! As you can see, she is a red head, hair kept about shoulder length with side bangs. She has large blue eyes thick with lashes, and a rather decent island tan. She wears a necklace that she has had since she was a little girl in Radiant Garden, one that was magically charmed by Aqua to keep her safe. She has a short pink zippered dress over a white tank top, which has a black hood sewn onto the straps. A belt winds around her waist and there is a pouch on her side, which most likely has absolutely no use due to how small it is. Maybe like... a notebook or something could fit in there. She has three bracelets around her left wrist, and purple converse that are loosely laced with black string. She also has an alternate outfit, which is her
school outfit.
Abilities: Kairi, like the other two kids from Destiny Islands, can use a keyblade. Hers is called
Destiny's Embrace, and was given to her by Riku towards the end of Kingdom Hearts 2. She has the potential because when Kairi was younger, she met Aqua and accidentally initiated a
keyblade inheritance ceremony by touching her keyblade. This gave her the potential as Aqua's successor, much as Riku was Terra's, and Sora was Ventus'.
Kairi has not had much fighting experience, but has potential to become a full fledged master, much like her friends. If taught properly, she can learn magic and other abilities unique to keyblade users. Being Aqua's successor, and the fact that her friends mirror the abilities and tendencies of Aquas friends, Kairi will be skilled in magic, and poor in strength.
If given the proper training in game, her abilities will follow along the lines of Aqua's in Birth by Sleep. However, understandably, it will take some time before she will be even a little bit decent at what she's doing.
Another noteworthy thing to mention about Kairi is the fact that she is a Princess of Heart. She has a heart of pure light, one in which darkness cannot inhabit. As such, there are several abilities that come with being a Princess of Heart. First of all, she can suppress darkness when she is near, whether she does so intentionally, or merely due to her presence. Kairi was even able to return Sora's heart to his body, even after he had become a Heartless, which is a creature of pure darkness. She also can sense when darkness is nearby, in whatever form it may take. Princesses of Heart have also exhibited the ability to manipulate other peoples powers, having helped increase the abilities of Soras magic. However, I don't know how to properly translate this into a non video game setting, so it will be most likely disregarded in the facility. Lastly, Princesses of Heart can travel through the corridors of darkness with no ill or negative affects, due to being unable to be tainted by darkness. They cannot summon them to use, but if they were to go through, they would not be hurt.
Also, Kairi has a special connection to Namine, due to being her somebody. They share memories, having reunited as one person towards the end of Kingdom Hearts 2, and this gives Kairi a bit more insight into some things than the rest of her friends have.
Personality: Between the two games, Kairi has matured and mellowed a lot. However, there is one complete constant about her personality; she is cheerful, kindhearted, and never afraid to speak her mind. She is extremely courageous and determined, risking her own safety in order to help others- which often backfires, considering she has yet to really develop a means to protect herself. Compared to her self in the first game, she has become more withdrawn without the presence of her friends, also contributed to by the fact she had developed a bit more maturity and knowledge than most children her age. This didn't stop her from being sociable, however, but she is still much less brash and bold than she was originally.
She is very charismatic and quick to make friends, holding them very close and dear to her heart. If there's one thing she considers most valuable, it would definitely be loyalty and friendship. She holds Riku and Sora so close to her heart that it's almost unhealthy, and would probably break down if they were to ever betray her, and worry herself to death if anything were to ever happen to them. Of course, you can also figure the fact that she's incredibly loyal to her friends. Her loyalty also ties into her headstrong and stubborn nature, often ignoring her better judgement in favor of rushing in to assist her friends. Seriously. Someone needs to teach this girl to protect herself, or she'll be forever stuck in damsel-in-distress mode.
She can find joy in whatever situation, often taking things in stride and finding the positives. For example, between the three of them, Kairi was the only one that didn't really mind not knowing where she came from, when they were younger. She merely counted her blessings that she was there with them now, and that she had found such amazing people.
Also, while Namine is also a part of herself, she is very much a foil for Kairis personality. If anyone can successfully calm her and make her think rationally in certain situations, it would be Namine.
History: When Kairi was four years old, she lived in Radiant Garden along with her Grandmother. One day while Kairi was alone outside, a group of
Unversed began to chase after her, sensing the pure light within her heart. During her panicked escape, she runs into Aqua, who motions Kairi to get behind her. Frightened, Kairi touched Aquas keyblade, accidentally performing the keyblade inheritance ceremony, due to her heart matching up. At this moment, Aquas keyblade glowed, and she could feel the pure light within Kairis heart. She destroys the Unversed and successfully protects Kairi, who gives her a bundle of flowers in thanks. This bundle transforms into the Destinys Embrace keyblade, one that Kairi herself will later yield. Before parting ways, Aqua placed a protective charm on Kairis necklace, one that would lead her light to the light of another in case she was in trouble.
After the defeat of Xehanort at the end of the game, there is a shot of Kairi looking up into the sky, almost as if she sensed something approaching. As she does, her necklace begins to glow. However, it is not until a year later that Kairi arrives on Destiny Islands, falling from the sky during a meteor shower, only to float to shore in the waters. It is that moment when she first met Sora, both of them at the age of five. She is adopted in by the mayor of the islands and remembers nothing of where she came from. It is not long before she strikes up a friendship with Sora and Riku, and they only grew closer over the years.
At the age of 14, the trio began to dream of visiting new worlds. Together they built a raft, hoping to sail off to a whole different world. However, before they can finish their raft, a storm hits the island, bringing Heartless along with it. She is found by Sora standing before a mysterious door, looking pale and ill. Calling out to her, she suddenly was blown towards him by a gust of wind emerging from the path behind her, yet goes right through him, only to disappear. It is at this moment that Kairi left her heart within Soras care, while her body went off to some mysterious world.
She is the main driving force behind Sora and Rikus travels, both of them trying to find her and restore her to health. However, Sora approaches this through the path of light, while Riku goes down the path of darkness.Throughout Soras journey he encounters mysterious images of Kairi, ones in which only he could see. This was due to him housing her heart, and her trying to talk with him in some semblance of a way. She even at some points left Sora encouraging messages, such as telling him 'I believe in you' while he was feeling down. She was experiencing his travels with him through his heart, and even regaining some of the memories that she had lost of her life before Destiny Islands.
Riku is the first of the two to find her. However, she is in a coma-like state, her body completely limp and lifeless due to the absence of her heart. Normally, without a heart, a body would transform into a heartless. However, being a Princess of Heart, she is unable to turn into any sort of dark being, and thusly remained a lifeless doll. Riku is falsely led to believe that he himself is the only one able to restore Kairi to life, and he does so in ways such as attempting to steal the heart of another. These of course, fail.
Sora is eventually able to discover her body, however, she is in Rikus care. He is extremely possessive and defensive over her, and locks her away where Sora couldnt see her. However, he is able to reach her eventually, and reaches his hand out to her in the hopes she would react. And indeed, her hand twitched ever so slightly, but there was no reaction beyond that. It is possible that this reaction only came to be due to the proximity of her heart to her body, but it is never quite explained. Perhaps Sora is just a special sunflower.
After a long journey, Sora eventually comes to learn of the truth of Kairis fate. This leads to yet another struggle between Sora and Riku, which ends in Sora removing his own heart in order to release Kairis. This does indeed allow Kairi to return, but by sacrificing Sora in the process. He is turned into a heartless just as Kairi attempted to reach out to him, but she wouldnt be swayed. She swore to protect him just as he had done for her, and shields Soras heartless away from the other heartless that had surrounded them. However, she is forced to flee due to Ansem attempting to attack her, only saved by Rikus spirit protecting her. She and Soras companions attempted to escape Hollow Bastion, the new name for Radiant Garden, where she had been held captive. They are cornered by heartless and all hope seems lost-- except, Kairi could recognize Soras heartless from within the crowd. She ran forward to embrace him, promising to protect him always, and Soras heart was finally returned to him.
Sora and Kairi travel to Traverse Town, where Sora requests Kairi stay until he can sort things out. She wants to go along with him, but Sora refuses-- it was too dangerous, and even if they were apart, there hearts were always going to be connected. Before he leaves, Kairi gives Sora her lucky charm, which turns into the keyblade Oathkeeper. Also, it is at this point that Kairi finally remembers the memories of her past life.
At the end of the game, Kairi must return to Destiny Islands alone. Sora still had to save Riku, and it was much too dangerous for her to accompany him. He promises to come back for her, as they seperated, Kairi drifting away with the returning and reforming Destiny Islands around her. It is here, alone, that Kairi remains for the next year, waiting for her best friends to return.
Between the two games, Kairis memories of Sora were scrambled. This was due to Namines influence, a nobody created when Kairi had lost her heart. Namine had the power to control the memories of those who were connected to Sora, and was manipulated by a group called Organization XIII into messing with his memories and those around him. Essentially, any recollection of Sora that Kairi had was completely gone. However, Namine eventually resists against the Organization, and sets to fixing Soras memories.
However, during the beginning of Kingdom Hearts 2, Kairis memories are still not quite back. She is 15 and leading a rather normal life, attending school alongside three other childhood friends of her, Sora, and Riku. Most of her time was focused on her school work, and thinking about her two friends, only one of which she remembered the name of.
Between her and the others, she is the only one that even vaguely remembers there being another boy besides Riku, and she can't help but dwell on it constantly. One day while walking home from school, her heart comes into contact with Roxas', Sora's nobody, as he called out for Namine-- of course, he ended up reaching Kairi, instead. During the conversation Sora is brought up, and Kairi inquires upon his name. Sora himself speaks to her through Roxas, jokingly making fun of her for forgetting. He gives her a hint, telling her it 'Starts with an S'. The conversation is ended and Kairi begins to write a letter, sending it out to sea in a bottle. It is at this moment that Kairis memories are apparently restored, stating 'It starts with an S, right Sora?'.
Towards mid to late game, Axel, a member of Organization XIII, shows up on the islands and asks Kairi to come along with him. He claims that if she does, she can see Sora. She refuses and Axel summons a hoard of nobodies, only to be saved by a portal popping up behind her, accompanied by Mickeys dog. She runs through and ends up in Twilight Town, in the hang out place of Hayner, Pence, and Olette, Roxas' best friends. They immediately hit it off and strike up a friendship, and to her joy, they know who Sora is. They assure her she can stay with them until his next visit, which was bound to happen soon. However, this joy was short lived, for Axel soon found her once more and forcibly removed her, despite the other kids attempts to defend her. However, Saix, another member, finds Axel with Kairi and takes her from him, locking her up at their castle in order to lure Sora to them. Kairi was devastated, afraid that all hope was lost.
However, she is saved by Namine, who opens up a portal in the room. At first she is hesitant, but Namine tells her to believe in herself, and Kairi reaches out to take her hand. A light shines between their hands as she follows in after her, and they escape together, still hand in hand. Saix catches up to them and claims that he can lead her to Sora, but she refuses, and she and Namine prepare for a fight. However, they are saved by a cloaked figure, and Namine hints towards who was under the hood. Without missing a beat, Kairi struts forward, pulling down the hood to reveal Riku, who had taken over the appearance of Xehanorts heartless. She is absolutely giddy to have him back, even if it was in this way. Together they go to where Sora is located, and it is here that Kairi first uses Destinys Embrace. Determined to be useful and protect Sora for once, she goes and attacks a group of heartless. The three have a touching reunion, and go off to fight Xemnas for the last time. Beforehand, Kairi and Sora reunite with their nobodies, Namine and Roxas, becoming coplete and whole once more. Kairi returns to the islands through a portal Namine summoned, but Riku and Sora are accidentally left behind.
After their fight with Xemnas, Sora and Riku are stuck in the darkness. It is here they find the letter Kairi had sent out at the beginning of the game, and upon reading it, a door of light appears in front of them. This door leads them back to Destiny Islands, where they reunite with Kairi and everyone is happy hooray!
IM SO SORRY WHOEVER HAS TO READ ALL THIS ):
Roleplay Sample - Log: The waves lapped silently against the shore, wading around her feet only to gently tug back again. It was a never ending gesture, a worldly occurrence that would remain unchanging until the end of time. But where did the water go? Where did it stop? Did it end, or did it loop all the way around again, to find itself back at the island she stood upon this very moment?
There were many worlds, and they all shared the same sky. Yet, the distance between them was so far. They were all connected, yet one could only dream of traveling to another.
The waves did end, circling endlessly in a grand loop from shore line to shore line. Yet... it was connected. He said he had found her message, hadn't he? In the depths of darkness, at the brink of hopelessness and loss, her words had reached him.
Once upon a time, long ago, her grandmother had told her that no matter where she was, the light would always find her. Perhaps her light had reached out to him in his darkest hour; he said that with the note had come a door of light, one so brilliantly bright, that led them straight home to her. They could finally be together again.
A smile tugged at her lips as she reached down, running her finger tips through the water as it rushed through the sand. Silly, really, for her to be pondering such things. Her friends had finally returned home, and they had so much to catch up on. She turned her back to the sea and inhaled sharply, body relaxing and mind at ease. That is, until she felt a tap against her foot.
A message in a bottle.
Brows furrowed in confusion, she leaned over to pick it up, wiping off excess sand and peering through the glass. It had the Kings seal. Her arms dropped limply beside her and she stared up into the sky, a frown crossing her face.
But she had just got them back...
Roleplay Sample - Journal:
It feels so empty without her around. Well, I suppose around isn't exactly the right way to say it! Apart of me works I guess. I know she's here somewhere, I can feel her...
Namine? Are you there? Please respond to me. I want to see you, now that you can be yourself again.
Boys. I know you're here too. Tell me you haven't been getting into too much trouble without me around! I'd really like to see you too, if you can get over here. Roxas, too. And I guess Axel. Still don't quite trust you from all that kidnapping business, but Namine likes you, so I guess I do too!
And perhaps someone would like to finally introduce me to Xion? :) I swear Sora, how many others do you need to have, you lazy bum! Riku doesn't even have one and he gets by just fine!
Anyways, I can't wait to see you all, even if we're in this weird place <3
