title: Wake Up Call (or: a Pointless Drabble)

summary: Hyukjae thinks about asking Donghae why he can’t just wake him up in a nice, friendly, normal, manner.
notes: This is old old old, but I felt like finishing and posting it anyway, I kinda miss HyukHae.
There’s no warning whatsoever before Hyukjae finds himself crushed and smothered. Well, there was a warning, actually, some kind of weird battle cry. But not warning enough, in Hyukjae’s opinion, and certainly not when he was sleeping. And having a good dream, too.
“Donghae,” he grouses tiredly. He’d try and sound angry, except Donghae’s sudden attack has winded him a little. “Get off me.”
He’s pretty much buried beneath his blankets, but Hyukjae can still feel Donghae squirm around on top of him. Another whoosh of breath escapes his poor lungs. “Time to get up,” Donghae all but sing-songs at him. And squirms some more, just for good measure.
Hyukjae thinks about asking Donghae why he can’t just wake him up in a nice, friendly, normal, manner, except they’ve had this particular debate before, and somehow, Donghae always manages to run circles around Hyukjae, with his back-to-front-to-sideways logic. And according to Donghae, it's more 'fun' this way.
So instead, he just shoves at the wriggling mass on top of him, half-heartedly because holy crap he’s still pretty tired, and once again tells Donghae to get off.
It’s a huge relief when Donghae crawls off of him a moment later, and Hyukjae thinks that he might only have one damaged lung. And an arm, cause he’s pretty sure one of them has just died. He’s quite lucky this time, actually.
Then, there’s a firm tug and the blankets are gone, and Hyukjae finds himself blinking up sleepily into Donghae’s face. Donghae’s bright, wide-eyed, smiling, face. He groans; it’s kind of disturbing, how Donghae still manages to have so much energy, even in the mornings.
“Come on. Get up, get up!"
Hyukjae’s about to groan again, but that smile, and he realises it’s kind of dazzling right now, is aimed straight at him. And, strangely, as Donghae takes hold of his arm and tugs him out of the bed, Hyukjae finds himself feeling more awake.
Well, a little, anyway.
