Sometimes Leeteuk wonders what God is thinking when he makes a person wait.

In his life, he had waited many times, for many different things. Somehow, the waiting process was always long and unpleasant.

When Leeteuk was a trainee, he waited many years for his debut. During those years, he juggled school and training, leaving the house early in the morning, and returning home late at night. He was lucky he still lived in Seoul, it was worse for the trainees like Donghae and Yunho that lived further away.

He was delighted when he was finally placed into a group to debut, but had his hopes further dashed when the group got disbanded just before its debut date. The same thing happened a few times, Leeteuk was fast losing hope.

When TVXQ debuted, although Leeteuk was happy for his friends, deep in his heart, he was jealous and upset. He wanted to debut just like them, he didn’t like being left behind, to continue his wait. On top of that, relatives and friends were constantly asking when he would be debuting. Sure, they were concerned… But sometimes excessive concern over one’s sore issue could get a little irritating and frustrating.

Not long later, Super Junior was formed and Leeteuk was appointed as the leader. Leeteuk remembers the wait up to their debut day, how they prepared, recorded and practiced with all that they had. He remembered the nervous feeling… Wondering if Super Junior, would turn out to be like another one of his project groups that had failed to make it.

Debut day, Leeteuk remembers waiting as the 12 of them stood on stage, adrenaline running through their veins, for the music to start, and for them to show the rest of Korea what they had got. After waiting for so long… they had finally made it to their debut stage.

At the end of the stage, when they had headed backstage, Leeteuk gathered the rest of the members and broke down in tears. They were done waiting, they had finally debuted, and they were a new band, a new family - Super Junior.

However, Leeteuk couldn’t be more wrong about being done with waiting. Over the years, there were many other incidents as well as occasions - their first stage with Kyuhyun, Leeteuk’s first subgroup SJ-T, the accident where Kyuhyun struggled for his life, new singles, new albums, their first and second concerts…. And the list goes on and on.

But after the many times of having to wait, Leeteuk finally discovered the answer to his question.

God makes you wait, to reward you in the end. For its only through waiting, that you learn to persevere and fight. And in the end, faith will get you a long way, and then you’ll realize that you have grown through the whole experience.
