As I just had to talk someone else down: goo bath does not necessarily mean death. They were talking about hooking him into the data stream to jumpstart his body, and that's not permanent.
I really do hope it all ties together in a coherent, meaningful fashion - that all of their destinies are linked and each of them has an important role to play and that all of this has been leading to something. Please don't let me down, RDM. Please. THIS.
but the show has already established that Hera can distinguish between Athena and Boomer. YES! This bothered me to no end, especially when you see that Hera is smiling at her would-be kidnapper before she's forced to drink. Since she recognizes her mother, she should know that that was Boomer, and thus, not smile. I call plothole.
Re: the Sixes, I think it was because her character was the first cylon humanoid conceived by the writers, who named her Number Six as a nod to The Prisoner. And then they probably decided it was more fun thinking up 35709735 names, to show that the Sixes were more individualised that the other Cylons?
Yes, I agree. Either that or the writers were fully aware of it and said, 'oh well, we need this plot to happen so hopefully the audience won't remember that this is a giant continuity flaw'. *sigh*
Yeah, I'm chalking up the Six thing to the fact that she was the first one they named and they probably realized later that it would be wayy too confusing if every model had different versions with different names. I think it's more of a writing thing than anything that actually means something in the show. Unless, of course, Six ends up being more important than the others (which is possible given her appearance in Baltar's head).
There have been many moments where I have wanted to reach out and take the Chief into my arms and say, 'It's gonna be alright, honey'. Last night, however, I couldn't decide if I wanted to embrace him or simply put him out of his misery. What else are they going to do to one man? Frakkin' A, yo. Why does karma hate him so damn much?
Him and Tigh. Calvin's plan to make the Final 5 suffer has really hit home with those two. The emotional pain and rollercoaster those two have been on is just gut wrenching.
Eh... I don't feel that way with Tigh. He's naturally fucked up and brings chaos rather regularly to himself and those around him. The Chief, however, really is just a regular guy trying to make the most of the shite hand he's been dealt time and time again. It's getting to the point of absurdity, thought. I mean, what else is this guy going to have happen to him? Hell...
I also somehow missed the Sam in the goo bath thing even though I watched the previews. I think I got gut punched that they would end Laura that fast that I wasn't fully prepared for the preview.
Now that I think about it, I'm not sure the preview actually showed Sam in the goo bath. I think it may just have showed Kara next to one and the person in it reaching out for her. I assumed it was Sam and fandom seemed to think this also, but I think you're right...I'm not sure they ever actually showed him so I guess it's possible it's someone else?
And I couldn't agree more. The end was such a blow that I could barely pay attention to the preview. My mind was still spinning.

This is not to say I'm sanguine about anything AT ALL. BUT OMG HE IS NOT DYING. *stamps foot* Because I say so.

Omgs, I totally agree. I was waiting for him to kill himself. They've really taken a happy guy and screwed with him in the most horrible ways.
