Ok, fandom is freaking out that Kara is a hybrid and blah blah blah (which, if it's true, go
Shaun! He totally called that more than a year ago). But, now that I'm thinking about it, I don't see how this episode leant credence to that theory? Or at least to the one that Daniel is her father? Someone set me straight please if I'm missing something here.
Kara played All Along the Watchtower which her dad taught her as a kid (And potentially wrote? Or Anders wrote it? Something like that.)
Anders used to play All Along the Watchtower back on Earth when he was a rockstar. (SAM IS A ROCKSTAR BITCHES).
Later, it switched the Final Five on.
Now, Earth predates the creation of the 7/8 humanoid models by thousands of years so how would Daniel know that song? He definitely couldn't have written it, but how would he know it? I mean, I guess it could be a programming thing or something he heard and picked up, but the other skinjobs didn't seem to recognize it. Or at least, none of them came running over when Kara played it like the Final Five did? And since it seems SO important to the destinies of Kara/The F5/the key to her father's identity, I find it weird to think that it was simply a song he learned thousands of years after it was written.
I just don't see how this episode supports the theory that Daniel is Kara's father. I did last night, but now that I'm thinking it through today, it's not working for me. It seems more likely that her father predates the Earthlings - like, someone from Kobol maybe. One of the gods? Her destiny is obviously tied to the cylons, but at this point, I think her connection with them predates the creation of the 7/8 humanoid models and possibly even predates Earth and originates on Kobol. That would also tie in with the angel imagery we've been repeatedly getting in regards to Starbuck - Leoben calling her "an angel blazing with the light of god", Kara glowing along with the Final Five when Sam was talking. And it would bring us full circle back to the mythology of the God/Gods, the origin of humanity, the departure of the 13th tribe and potentially the Opera House (which is located on Kobol) and the scrolls of Pythia which foretold all of this.
I think I'm jumping ship on the 'Daniel is Kara's father theory' and going instead with, 'Kara's ancestry dates back to Kobol'. Maybe I'm overthinking it, but right now, that makes more sense to me and I like the prospect of it connecting everything we know and don't yet fully understand. If I've learned anything, though, it's that what makes sense is usually wayyy off base so now I'm off to await the answers (maybe we'll get some next Friday? Please?).
That recording says "Live at the Helice(?) OPERA HOUSE". OMGS YOU GUYS. IT'S ALL GOING TO CONNECT. KARA IS CONNECTED TO THE OPERA HOUSE. I'm now even more convinced that she is half-god or angel or something from Kobol and NOT the daughter of Daniel.
Also, if that does say Helice opera house, is there some imagery there? Spirals, things connected, spinning into one another? DNA, two halves making a whole? Things revolving around one another and circling back in on themselves? /imagery-geekery
