My laptop (Windows Vista) is freaking out, and I strongly suspect a virus or three. I have Avast. Any other free anti-virus/spyware stuff I should/can download to try and clean this thing out?

ETA: BankerFox.A

Apparently whatever nasties I have on my drive have disabled my ability to access and download from certain websites-- Almost all of which are anti-virus software related. I can't even access the Malwarebytes page, and I can't get an internet connection to update the virus files on Sophos Anti-virus (which I get free from my school) which means it won't run.

Have you tried connecting while in Safe Mode?

Yup.

I think something may have gotten damaged while I was trying to run virus checkers last night... This morning my scans say they can't find BankerFox.A, but there's 4 other viruses on there it can't seem to get rid of, and when I plug into the internet outside of safe mode Avast pops up all these warnings that I'm sending out spam... so I'm just keeping my ethernet unconnected for now.

OMG dude. :( I should buy you Win 7 upgrade as a belated birthday present or something. No one should have to deal with Vista AND a virus.

My dad is supposed to be getting me a Win 7 upgrade this summer because it's $15 through his school.

...God, I hate Vista with a burning passion.
