Sungyeol was in a bad mood when he returned home. And the three couples in his shared house wasn't helping at all. He trudged his feet to his room and laid down on his bed.
"Fuck my life!!" he screamed into his pillow.
"I think you do enough of that at Ulzzang Jjang, Sungyeol," a cold voice told him.
Sungyeol sat up and glared at the intruder. "You don't know what goes on there, hyung," he spat, the word hyung becoming a demeaning term more than respectful in this case.
Sunggyu sighed and sat on the be next to Sungyeol. "Why are you like this?" he said softly, gently petting the younger's hair. "What've Woohyun and I done wrong?"
"You're not my parents," Sungyeol spat, pushing away Sunggyu's hand.
"But we act like them," Sunggyu replied. "We took care of you for them. Without us... Who knows where you'd be..."
Sungyeol turned away from Sunggyu. As he stood, the older added darkly, "Well... Maybe you would've been better off on your own then, no?"
Sunggyu left the room with the door slamming behind him. Sliding out of bed, Sungyeol quietly pressed his ear to the door and eavesdropped on the outside conversations.
"What's wrong, hyung?" Sungjong asked.
"He's doing it..." Sunggyu growled.
"What? Calm down, baby," Woohyun said. "Now talk."
"Sungyeol... I'm most definitely sure that he's... Working at Ulzzang Jjang as a... A..." Sungyeol could hear sobbing.
"That can't be..." Hoya muttered.
"He's not like that!" Dongwoo protested.
"Sungyeol hyung tells me everything!" Myungsoo yelled. "He would tell me if he were whoring around. I'm his best friend!"
Try were, Myungsoo, Sungyeol thought to himself.
"Myungsoo hyung, calm down," Sungjong said soothingly.
"No! That son of a bitch has caused enough trouble. I don't want him hurt." There was the sound of thudding feet and Sungyeol heard Myungsoo shout, "Let go of me! I'm going to talk to the bastard."
Sungyeol back away from the door as Myungsoo flung the door open and close behind him. "Are you crazy?!" the younger shouted first off. "Do you realize what you're doing?! How could you do this?!"
Sungyeol towered over Myungsoo. "It's none of your concern!" he shouted. "Just go back to your precious little Sungjong." There was sour sarcasm and bitter feels to the words.
Myungsoo eyes darkened. "Don't use that tone when speaking about Sungjong," he growled.
"Just go back to him. I don't need you."
"Is that what this is about? Me and Sungjong?"
"No."
"Then what the fuck is wrong, Sungyeol?!"
"You don't need to know."
Myungsoo exhaled hotly. "You're stupid."
"Like you aren't, cheater."
The name struck a nerve in Myungsoo's heart. "I wouldn't have if you didn't kiss me!" he screamed.
"I didn't kiss you. I asked for one, and you gave it to me!"
Myungsoo fists shook with rage. He turned around and struck the wall with his fist. "Find your own way out of this mess you're creating! I'm not having anything to do with it!!" the younger shouted before cradling his bruised hand and slamming the door behind him with his other.
Sungyeol growled lowly to himself and plopped down onto his bed. What was he doing? He was driving his friends away. Why was he isolating himself?
Sungyeol lifted his head as the door creaked open. "Sungyeol hyung?"
"What?" he spat, hugging his pillow.
Sungjong sat next to Sungyeol. "Myungsoo-ah doesn't mean it," he said softly. "He's just upset. He doesn't want to see you hurt."
"Well he already has," the older growled.
Sungjong bit his lip. "Hyung, are you really... Doing that?" he asked.
Frowning, Sungyeol answered, "And if I was?"
Sungjong suddenly hugged him. "Then you'd still be my hyung..."
Sungyeol didn't hug back. After a moment of silence, Sungjong left the room. It wasn't until dinnertime that Woohyun walked into Sungyeol's room.
"Yeollie, time for dinner," he called.
"I'm not hungry," came the monotone reply.
"Sungyeol, you need to eat," Woohyun insisted.
"I don't want to!!"
The door closed with a bang.
About twenty minutes later, Sungyeol began to feel the huger pains. Maybe he should've obeyed and eaten with the others. Suddenly, there was a soft knock on the door.
"Who is it?" he barked.
"Your fairy food mother," a voice in falsetto sang. "Now open up, you choding!"
Sungyeol paused. He knew it was Dongwoo. Should he open the door for his crush, his one-sided love? No, it would make things worse... But he had food.
"Your food's going to get cold!" he called.
"Alright! I'm coming! I'm coming!" Sungyeol shouted as he threw his pillow back onto his bed and stood up.
Sungyeol allowed Dongwoo to enter his room with a tray of food. Dongwoo sat the tray on the bed and beckoned Sungyeol over. "Come on," he said. "You need to eat, Sungyeol-ah."
Sungyeol hesitantly sat beside Dongwoo on the bed and the older spoon-fed Sungyeol. The food Woohyun had made was still hot. The rice was just right and meat was spicy.
As Dongwoo fed Sungyeol, the choding could only hear the sounds of his chewing and the beating of his heart. So loud and erratic was the rhythm, and yet there was an interfering beat within his chest.
As Sungyeol neared to finishing his dish, Hoya suddenly popped into the room. "Dongwoo-ah, are you almost finished?" he asked.
"Almost," he answered. "What do you need, HoBaby?"
Hoya smirked. "I've a surprise for you."
Sungyeol frowned at the glint in Hoya's eyes, that spark of lust. Dongwoo smiled back. "I'll be there soon, baby."
Hoya left with a wink. It was then that Sungyeol recognized the familiar pain in his chest. Even though he sat so close to Dongwoo, their hearts were miles apart. Sungyeol felt loneliness.
