I just made this and I super super love it! It is actually the first project I've ever actually finished, (I have parts of scarves and elements of a baby cardigan,) because I learned how to use DPNs and love them. I changed mine a little, since I crochet I made the eyes and beak that way, which I think was a lot easier. I've named him Carl, after a dog I know.

I'll get someone to take a picture and put it on my blog! I might make another one for Christmas - my girlfriend's sister used to work in an aviary and loves cute things, so I think she needs one. You should definitely learn to crochet, it is way easier than knitting. I teach people all the time, but since this is the internet, I'd suggest looking up videos to learn.
