+ firewall= ZoneAlarm
link to download

(little tricky at first, cuz it asks u if u wanna block stuff, so u have to figure out what is dangerous or not my clicking on "info" or trail and error, but super-helpful)

+ spyware taker-away-er= Spybot Search and Destroy
link to download

(also immunizes against bad stuff, finds things that Ad-Aware misses, allows u to recover stuff after u remove it, in case it was something important)

+ other spyware-taker-away-er= Ad-Aware
link to download

(u said u didn't like this one, but it works for me pretty well, esp. hand-in-hand Spybot. I am running version 6, so maybe an updated version would help.)

+ pop-up blocker= msn pop-up blocker
link to msn.com(u can d/l it right off of msn.com and becomes part of your toolbar at the top. works very well, I never get any pop-ups, at all! it also tallies the amt. of things it has blocked. once at msn.com, see left-hand links. scroll down to "Look it up" and click on MSN Toolbar. d/l from there ( ... )
