Up, down and up again

Yesterday was one of those days that started out good, took a steep nosedive but at the last minute managed to pull itself round to come back for a fantastic finish. So it started out well with a lovely sleep-in, beautiful sunny morning and the promise of an afternoon out at the Cotter for a picnic lunch and swimming with geekintheheat. There's no way Alhambra needs to be seen as a game for experienced players. It's not particularly complex or deep. I can imagine that learning from scratch if you weren't used to Euro games might be tricky, but that's about all. It's been pretty popular around here.

Railroad Tycoon has buildy aspects to it in creating your rail network. There isn't trading as such, though -- not with other players at any rate. It's one of my more-used games at the moment. There are no battles as such, but it can be very cut-throat in competition over building links and delivering goods cubes, especially with lots of players.

Princes of Florence is my personal favourite of the trading games, but Goa, Traders of Genoa, Puerto Rico, Saint Petersburg and of course Settlers of Catan are all fun. Traders of Genoa is Imogen's favourite. Like you, I love the trading / building games - another reason to catch up more!

Oooh, and I did enjoy 4400.

Yeah, we should really have another games night here soon!

We have season two of the 4400 arriving sometime from Amazon, we will pass it along after we have finished with it.

Oh we made that yummy feta/mint/watermelon entree you guys did for my friends 50th last night and it went down a treat. Very nice.

Excellent.

Glad to hear it worked again - it wasn't a fluke!

Rob picked up Traders of Genoa yesterday at CanCon. We might have to get you guys to run through the game with us, I tried to read the rules last night when I was feeling very tired and I thought my brain was going to melt :(

Yes, yes that is geekintheheat (a very appropriate name I think).

Also yes to new games. We have ticket to ride which is fun and also Traders of Genoa which I have no idea about yet, but seems to have some good press.
