I lost a very close friend last year (he was my age - 33) to cancer. We were high school sweethearts and then it evolved into a really great friendship. The day I 'got the call' I knew before I answered what that call was going to be. I remember thinking that the world was just a little bit of a colder place without him in it.

Not to wax too esoteric for ya, but I think that feeling 'in the atmosphere' that we sometimes feel that spans distance is related to the interconnectedness we have and that connection to social consciousness. At moments when I am moved by both personal and world wide events, I'm glad I feel something about it, I feel more human maybe or perhaps like despite how F*!ed up things are in the world, I still love this planet and all the people on it.
