Four years? You've still got a long way before fossilization. My day-to-day home computer was purchased in, I believe, 1999? Whenever the PowerMac G3/400 first came out. Cost a pretty premium, because 400 MHz was mindboggling, blinding, stupidly fast at the time.

Speaking of stereotypes... I use a Mac, I drive a Volkswagen, I drink coffee religiously, and I only like microbrew beers. I am the living stereotype of the snobby neo-yuppy. Penny-Arcade ran a comic years back, spoofing the old Mac ads; you know, "My name is John, and I use a Mac." It ended with, "My name is Raven, and I am an elitist asshole."

I'm feeling like I'm going to have to change my name to Raven.
