What's with men!!!

Will someone please answer this question:

Why is it so F&*ING important to men that women change their names?

It's not that I don't want to. I'm just making a difficult process even more difficult adding the fact that I now live in Germany.

Most people have some part of them that's really traditional. That must be his "thing". It demonstrates that you are so dedicated to him that you even took his name. (Men have fragile little egos, so they need all the proof they can get that you really really love them)

Lewis wanted us to both have the same last name, but he didn't care which of us changed. But he's Lewis C, III, so it made more sense for me to change to his name.

The big name issue for us is him wanting to have Lewis C, IV and me really really not wanting to. (Why did it have to be a boy??) :-/

Yeah. He FINALLY told me that although he's not an old fogie, there's still some things that are traditional about him. AND you are soooooooo right. Men do have fragile egos. :) They may not physically have that time of the month, but they still get the PMS.

Oh, and good luck with the name thing. :) AAAAAAANNNNNDDDD CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I have been off this thing for far too long. :)

I don't think it's important at all to change your name. I have decided when I get married that I am not going to change my name. I mean, come on, it's hard to change your name. He needs to understand that changing your name is easier than changing the brand of your shampoo.

Hahaha :) Yeah. It is a PAIN!!! Thankfully he apologized for acting the way he did. I will probably change it eventually only BECAUSE it's important to him. He doesn't ask for much, but it's obviously important to him. The kids and parents know you by your last name so it makes sense that you would keep yours.

... you know, I think for him, it also symbolizes in a way that I won't leave him - that I will be his forever. My little brother told me that last names are to men like the big diamond is for women. :) I liked the analogy.
