Joe Millioniare -- My Guily Pleasure

Ok so I had to watch this show. I derive this really guilty school room feeling of gossiping from watching the show. I like watching these women squirm over this guy all with the secret knowledge that it is all a lie. In a way I want to see their dreams shattered. I am a horrible person.

But you have to admit it is one hell of social experiment. It's the reverse of cinderella, because its a real test of 'love'. Yes we saw the debauchery of "Who wants to marry a millioniare?". We all heckeled when that turned out to be false. Now we just get to watch it on camera.

Here's the thing. Fox has created this show to bring out the worst of these girls. We (or I if you have more dignity and self-respect than I do) are watching these fight, lie, and just be bitchy to win this dream. The first episode you can already see it happening. And Fox is making sure there is plenty of reason for them to fight. For instance they held this ball for this one guy and these 20 women, and had 20 dresses made for them. We watched fight over the dresses and it was civil but you could see them starting to fight.

We also get to watch Joe try and keep up this lie, which is rather ridiculous. And you see him wrestle with his conscience. He seems basically good guy, and Fox sure does go out of its way to make you believe that. And yes he certainly talks alot about how much it sucks.

Basically Fox is taking this fairy tale idea and throwing some Darwin in to get some cat fights.

But of course none of what we see is true. Every show is in the editing and Fox is showing us a picture of what they want us to see. We are only being shown the bitchy and money grabbing side of these women. And as much as you want to like Ethan (the Joe) you have to ask yourself how good of guy can he really be if he agreed to this.

While Fox, seems dedicated to showing the worst side of people, maybe its somewhat healthy for all of us to see it and consider us in perspective. After all there are good sides to us and bad sides to us. Maybe instead of us being good or us being bad, maybe we are just plain old people trying to figure this shit out.

Maybe I am a bad person for watching it. I don't know, but it is damn funny.
