QM Prompt #57: "If science teaches us anything, it teaches us to accept our failures, as well as our successes, with quiet dignity and grace." - Young Frankenstein
It's just something I wonder sometimes. Figured she had to've had something to do with Hera's disappearance and I thought, frak, if that were me I'd sure want someone to at least say sorry.
Scientific knowledge hasn't gotten us anywhere except in trouble. All we've accomplished so far has been through guts and skills. Science gives us the illusion of control, when control isn't what we should want in the first place. I tell my nuggets that all the time.
She took Hera. She and Doc Cottle, and they frakking kept her on New Caprica and lied to me, telling me she had died. It's why I made Helo shoot me, so that I could download on that Cylon Basestar and get her back while you were on that algae planet.
I got her back, but she's never apologized. The Old Man was the one who found out and who told Helo and me the truth.
Want to know the kicker? During Baltar's trial, she was on the stand and told the entire frakking fleet that there was a human-Cylon hybrid who saved her life. Yeah, thanks a lot Madam President. Thought we were keeping that a secret for Hera's sake.
*sighs* Sorry. I didn't mean to yell at you about it, I just...
... Well. Frak. Don't think I knew it in all that detail. It's like I said before. We all have our frakking problems but that, honestly, that has to be worst. Hera had two parents who were prepared to love her and welcome her and no one, least of all the president, had any right to take that away. I'm not gonna start spouting stuff like, "Oh I'm sure she had her reasons," because you know what, no line of reasoning could justify that to me. I want to know why she never even had the decency to frakking apologize. Where she got the idea it'd be okay to do that in the first frakking place.
Yell all you want. Sometimes yelling's the only way to get back at the universe.
Yeah, well, sometimes there's more beneath the surface than you see. I just don't like to let myself think too much is all. When I think, I get frakked up even more.

I think you might be the only one who noticed that. Or at least, who said something about it.
But science was part of causing the problem. I don't think it'll be the solution.
So say we all.
