I spent over three years as a barista...so I hope this helps:

Make sure you KNOW your drinks inside and out, and if you can,learn recipes for old drinks that are no longer on the menu ....like the Marble Mocha Machiatto, just in case someone who fell in love with it back in the day orders it....you being able to make it will make their day. (btw....amazing drink...it's the mocha/white mocha version of the CM)

Then....go the extra mile. Someone gets a doppio for here......warms their cup with hot water before pouring the espresso. Chances are that if someone has the discerning taste for just espresso, they'll appreciate the time.

Also...even if JSY can get ridiculous at times, if a customer is not throwing a temper tantrum at you, use it.....it'll be worth it in the end.

Wait, you would complain because this person doesn't fit into a gender role you approve of? I am really hoping there was something else that you felt was "creepy" and the bad service was NOT due to this person's appearance and the way they are living their life.
