There is a difference, she believes, between walking the future in dreams and putting yourself directly into the future's path.
She remembers a world of strategy and swords and blood; remembers the way she bound all of these things to herself with her own will, the way she both reigned as queen and played herself as pawns. (And she remembers the shadows she had cast in her bishop's eye, all blacks and the darker rivulets burning beneath, and she thinks, If I had to do that to my own child-)
She had chosen, had wished, and knows now that her desires keep them moving forward just as surely as they keep them spiraling and still; just as surely as she knows his arms keep her stationary and safe. (And if once they only sent her down, shattering like swordpoints and softening the sharpest edge as she whispered against his skin, then still too she has boundless faith.)
And she is not afraid to pay the price for the wish she shares with her other self, with all of her other selves.
Because even now, everything will surely be all right.
