carocrow and I spent the day yesterday running errands and looking at various areas of Natchitoches that we might be interested in to purchase a home.

So, I take it your plan is just to leave John and I behind, cast off like so much of yesterday's news? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Your cake pan is muy excellente. You need a big house like that so I can come over and play Cleopatra in your sunken tub :-p

That sunken tub is very enticing! You are more than welcome if we end up getting such a feature as long as you don't bring any snakes along cleo :).

Cleo didn't have a very good history with snakes; I don't want to be a pain in the asp :-p

I am SOOOOO glad things are progressing for you! that house is a beauty! and I love the rose bundt pan. I have the similar kind in the cathedral shape. Haven't found many bundt recipes per sé but I just use regular layer cake recipes.

I LOVE cucumber salad! gotta go make some now. :-)

I used a red velvet cake mix, I am thinking that next time I will use sweetened condensed milk while cooling poking holes in the bottom, then pour it in and allow it absorb into the cake. I really rather like the premade cream cheese frosting that I used to drizzle over the top of the cake.

I remember seeing one of your lovely cathedral cakes, do you use Pam and flour when preparing the bundt pan?

Cucumber salad is most delicious! I just used that Thai sweet chili sauce with rice wine vinegar & a tad of sugar, but think it could be improved upon with some diced shallots and carrot slivers.

Actually, the directions that came with the pan said to just brush the interior with melted butter, and to not use spray products. So that's what I've done and I've never had sticking. :-)

Thank you! I haven't seen the interior yet, but the photo's are so promising! It looks as though it will be awhile, FEMA & SBA are moving very slowly, and we haven't heard back from our regular mortgage company yet either.

The not-knowing about how to dispose of the houses is maddening! Our ins. is giving us the total run-around. And what about bull-dozing, about neighborhoods condemned??? We too just plan to demolish -- I can't see how it can be saved. So then what do we do with the land? My big fear now is that the govt will just seize it all via Eminent Domain and let it go wild, and we will be left with nothing, nothing.

Wow! Uh, sorry, didn't mean to unload on your LJ. But I know how you feel.. It's really bothering me. Good luck in Vicksburg.
