i actually saw that a few months ago, and i was pretty surprised.
i honestly think that when you're on a major label (modest mouse has been on epic/sony since moon & antarctica), the band doesn't have a lot of say in who gets to use their song for advertising.
i remember hearing something like that when weezer explained how mary kate and ashley got the rights to use island in the sun in a move of theirs. they had nothing to do with it.
but yeah, it's weird. who knows what the hell happened, and who knows why the hell nissan wanted their song in a mini-van commercial in the first place.
yeah i figured something along those lines. Cause i know thats how it works for all the old school shit that gets played in commercials like the beatles, led zep and what not, but it still pisses me off. Tim, chillin just needs to happen this weekend buddy.
