*rubs temples*
I think I'm going to do this purging thing every year. It gives me time to think...not on this, mind you, but AIM.
I haven't cried in weeks ^_^.
But anyways. Washington DC was absolutely beautiful. The first day there we went to this hole in the wall restaurant and everythign was tasty. This would be the last real food I would eat til I got back in the hotel, everything was a marvelous dreamland of food that was very fancy and delicious. Then we walked over to the hotel, changed, and then we walked over to the WWII Memorial, which leads to the Lincoln Memorial.
The WWII memorial, if you haven't seen it, is absolutely breathtaking. There's a fountain in the middle of it that is very pretty and very touching, and all around are all the states and all the territories of the US.
I took pictures *check*
I walked over to the Lincoln Memorial, and saw baby duckies in the reflection pool, and then walked up to the Lincoln memorial and saw Mr. Lincoln in all his glory. I don't think I breathed for a good five minutes there.
I took pictures *check*
Walked down to the lil museum thing underneath, and the movie of all the different events that happened there left me kind of watery.
We went back, and I slept in a really comfy bed at a really expensive hotel in a really nice room ^_^.
Next day, I head over to the Smithsonian Museums. I go to the renwick museum and there they have a lot of art dealing with textiles on the bottom floor and a lot of American art on the top floor, while the American Art Museum finishes. I took a few pictures there, especially of this one sculpture called 'Game Fish' it was entertaining.
From there, I get completely lost in DC, and then practically bump into the Smithsonian Musueum of American History. It's so awesome in there...lots of exhibits about American life during the 50s and a huge one entitled 'The Price of Freedom: America at War' which was kind of chilling...although I liked it all around.
I walked back to the hotel, and made it just before the group I went with went out to dinner.
The next day, I had an abismal time getting eat alive by children at the museum of Natural History, and left as soon as possible. From there I went to the National Gallery of Art.
There's two sections of the National Gallery of Art, and the first part of it was the abstract and contemporary art. Aaand I found out that the Moulin Rouge was a real place. It means in French 'Red Windmill', and that the dward, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, was a famous painter, who did a number on Montmartre.
The other gallery didn't hold my interest nearly as long, but it was still very awesome.
After that day I decided to take a day off my feet, and just crashed in my room
After that, we went to the Ford Theatre- where Lincoln was shot, and saw a presentation of 'Big River: The story of Huckleberry Finn" It was really good, although it was done by a deaf company, so through the whole thing they signed as well. It was amazing though, and two of the singers made me want to die. It was perfect. ^_^
The last day I made my way back out to the National Gallery of Art to see the sculpture garden, as it had been raining the day before, and went back to the National Museum of American History to pick up a gift, and then I headed to the hotel.
All in all, the trip was marvelous and made me want to start writing a new story. ^_^
I'm practically free all summer, if anyone wants to do anything, just call me or IM me.
