Stuck

There's six feet of hip-deep snow in front of my garage, plus some extra that has been piled up, presumably by neighbors trying to get themselves free. So, I'm kind of stuck. I could go out there and shovel until I die, but the problem is, there's no where for me to move the snow. Our garages are set up in sets of 3 and I have the middle garage ( Read more... )

So do you have food? Are you scared? Can you walk outside?

You don't get snowed in here so I'm not sure if this is a big deal or not. You don't sound nervous...

I'm not in any danger. The county will get the roads plowed eventually. We knew the storm was coming so we stocked up on food beforehand, so I'm not in danger of starving (in fact, I have cupcakes!). We were pretty much stuck in the house while it was snowing, but now that the storm itself is over, everyone is starting to dig out. This is just a lot more snow that we normally get, but it's not anything scary. It's also not that cold out now that the storm is over. I mean, it's cold, but it's not freezing. My only real issue is that I can't get the car out so I can't drive anywhere, including to work ( ... )

Ah, okay, cause I have been hearing about big powercuts so I wasn't sure how that would play out.

We are leaving for Mongolia in about a fortnight and apparently it's the worst weather there for 30 years right now. :(

I would call your HOA and fuss a fit. It is not your responsibility to clean the main area of the HOA, it is your responsibility to clear your sidewalk (unless you pay for that) they need to get their butts back there and do things properly, otherwise your situation is completely unfair. You may find it best to let Dad call and howl up a storm about what his tiny little daughter who he loves so much would have to do because of them and he doesn't want her hurt and send him a photo or few.

This is why you pay outrageous HOA fees. Our townhouses were cleaned to the edge of the driveways and the parking spots, with the piles pushed way out of anyones way. Your HOA should not pay that company, and they are expensive.

every 2 hours or less depending how how fast the snow is hitting is the only way to deal with this amount of snow if you don't have a snow blower. Otherwise the stuff packs down into cement. today is going to be awful as its starting to melt (but the icicles on my trees are really pretty.
