There's nothing really crass or shallow about waiting for a ring. Talk is talk, and I've been let down by a lot of talk. A ring is symbolic for a reason, because it is (supposed to be) committment, love, honor, fidelity and trust manifested physically.

Right. It's the meaning behind the symbol that I need before I can believe it's true. The fact that the ring is expensive just goes to show how serious the commitment is. Except when you look at Hollywood, they give wildly expensive rings and then break it off after 5 months. But that's all relative to their income. Easy come, easy go, so they say. I guess by this reasoning I just invalidated the rings worth as being any indication of the strength of the bond between two people. Really the issue at hand is more that when I say anything about the logistical details of a wedding, he looses interest. But that really says more about his lack of tolerance for logistical details...I'm rambling, sorry.

Only you know what you truly want to do, and only you and Brian will live with your choices that you decide to make ( ... )

Either that's the sweetest thing anyone's ever said to me, or you were totally wasted when you wrote this ;}. Seriously, you mean so much to me too. I'm happy to see you are making art and music like you want to, and have gotten some of the *gear* you needed to do that. I've always lived my life like love was the most important to me. Sometimes I feel like I give too much of myself away. Like the stereotypical female thing to put my needs and dreams in second place ( ... )
