Good stuff, babe. You've nicely captured Mikaela's voice in this, and what I think are some pretty human, relatable reactions to a tragedy of Chicago's magnitude. I remember feeling similar emotions on 9-11, and that was without anyone I cared for being in Ground Zero... having someone I loved, or used to love, would have been too much to bear.

Thank you so much. You know your TF opinion matters most to me!

I'm glad the feelings came across for you. I was hoping they were so clear.

What I love is the characterization of the relationships as mature and moved-on, rather than as a twisted love quadrangle. You have Sam and Mikaela as, well, as probably what would have ended up happening: a firmly "ex" ex-couple who are mature enough to acknowledge just how much they went through together, and just how unique of human beings that makes them, and grown up enough about it to be friends (or at least friendly). The line at the end, where Mikaela is finally going to let her new love in on this huge chunk of her past (and current) life, is subtle and perfect - it shows just how much she trusts him. You get the sense that the new couples are just right for each other, and the old couple can be happy for each other and remain friends.

And Bee saying hi is made of adorable and win. =D

Thank you! I'm glad it all came across like it did. I like to think that not every relationship is ended forever and that what Sam and Mikaela had, and went through, is enough to get past anything.

I'm glad you liked it!

War gives great opportunity to write great tales of personal conflict, but it isn't always about those holding the guns or the radios but those who don't have the fire and the fury to occupy all of their attention. In using Mikaela in this way you've captured that conflict.

It add some depth to the original tale in a way the original movie did with Lennox' family, then to some extent with Sam's parents in the second film, but was a perspective largely left out of the third film.

I enjoyed :)
