“Ben?” Will had asked one night in his trailer after shooting, wrapped in his boyfriend’s arms. “What do you think would happen if we just told everyone? About us, I mean.”
Ben sighed. “Honestly Will, I don’t think it would end well.”
“But why?” Will protested as he pulled from Ben’s embrace. “Georgie and Skandar have no problem with it. Why would everyone else?”
“Well, for one thing Will, you’re still underage.”
“But I won’t be for much longer!”
“And not to mention the scandal it would cause. Your acting career is just starting out. I can’t let you give all of that up for something like this.”
“‘Something like this’? Ben, are you serious?” Will’s eyes stung as he tried to hold back tears. “Is that all we are to you?”
“Baby, no.” Ben reached over to pull the younger one to him, but Will stubbornly swatted his hands away. “You know that’s not what I meant. An acting career like you have now isn’t something you can replace.”
“And you think I can replace you?” A few silent tears fell and this time Will welcomed Ben’s open arms. They sat together then, neither saying a word. Ben gently ran his fingers through blond locks in an attempt to calm his young lover until Will spoke up once again.
“What if we fell in love under different circumstances? If we were just normal people. If we didn’t have to worry about losing our stupid jobs over this. Would it still be wrong?”
Ben held Will closer to him and kissed him gently on the forehead. “No, it wouldn’t be wrong. And what we have now isn’t wrong either. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Just because the world isn’t ready for our kind of relationship doesn’t mean it’s wrong. All that matters is that we love each other. Remember that.”
“Ben?” Will asked, wiping tears away with the sleeve of his shirt.
“Yeah?”
“I love you.” He buried his face in Ben’s chest.
“Love you too.”
A/N: Not 100% satisfied with this one. It turned out kinda cliche and I thought characterization was off a tad but I really wanted to write something for the 'What if we fell in love' prompt. I'll probably at least attempt another shot at this. *needs to write some Will/Skan*
