Phoebe is a looker! How could anyone think she's a backyard dog? She looks like a total snuggle-bug to me. This so echoes my experience of adding a second dog to the household. Peanut fit in so well, then Dozer rolled on in very true to his name. Got a routine already? Well here's a new one, you fools!
I hope you, Phoebe and Andy find ways to settle in with each other. Whether or not she shows it, she's a lucky dog to be taken into your family and under your care for however long she stays.
a couple of years ago, me and my husband adopted a admittedly much smaller dog (about 10 lbs) that had a simular personality to yours. She was probably an outside dog that had been very abused. She was a rescue, a stray that someone picked up who just happened to foster rescue dogs, and we hooked up with them through mutual friends. When we first got her, she was generally actually pretty healthy; other than being severely underweight and malnurished. She also wasn't spayed. About a month after we got her home, she developed a bad case of tapeworm. We took her to the vet, where he told us she was pregnant and due in about a week!! D: We at the time lived in a one bedroom apartment, and puppies were not ideal. I really wanted to get rid of her, as I didn't have that initial attatchment yet, and I knew that puppies were a REALLY bad idea. In the end, we decided to stick it out, and although our (thankfully) hardwood floors got slightly trashed, we kept her through the welping and kept the puppies for 6 weeks, and tried to find them

While I love my completely insane once-feral cat, I must admit I often miss having dogs. They're so much more work, but so worth it.
