I got to City Hall just a few minutes after 10:00 this morning and heard the news from one of the demonstrators. I also overheard one say they were heading for Grove and Van Ness to occupy the intersection. To quote: "We're not going to break anything. We are just going to piss off a lot of people." My mom has left messages with some state senator (can't remember who) and Tom Ammiano and has talked with Sheila Kuhl, with whom she is friends, about working on making civil unions, rather than marriages, the equal for all legal binding thing in California. I think she'd really like her organization (the CDCBA, but I'm having a mind fart right now and can't remember what it stands for) to be the one that works on getting that done, which would be pretty cool.
Conference of Delegates of the California Bar Association. I remember. (My mom just told me that they're in the process of changing their name, which I'm sure means I'll have to memorize some other crazy sequence of letters.)
