Stamping FAQs

What is a Stamping Community?
A stamping community is a community in which your peers read the application you have submitted and give their vote as to which character from a specific set you most remind them of. Here, there will be several different applications to choose from at different times, each with a set number of stamps to choose from. For example, if the current application was Deep Space Nine, you could not be stamped as Will Riker. During Shoreleave weekends there will also be special themed applications available.

Are there any requirements?
You must be a member of starfleet_hq and your team's ship or station (team_archer, team_kirk, team_picard, team_sisko, or team_janeway). Although it's not mandatory, I do suggest joining sfhq_shoreleave as well for extra fun!

How do I know how to vote? Is there a list?
For each application and theme, there will be a full list of stamps available before voting begins. I will also try to have the physical stamps ready and available beforehand, just in case that might help ease voting.

Do I earn points here?
Every regular application vote is worth two points. If you vote on all of the regular applications dropped in a week, you will receive an extra 10 points. Additionally, every themed application vote during Shoreleave is worth an extra point and an extra five point bonus if you finish them all. Please be sure that you sign your votes with your name and team, or else they will not count! You can use signature tags.

Do I have to be stamped before I can vote?
No! Please vote whether you are stamped or not! You can earn points whether you want to be stamped for yourself or not, or even if your application just hasn't been pushed through the queue yet.

What's the difference between characters and themes?
A character stamp is your basic, regular, kind of official stamp. In this comm, there will be five official character stamps: TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, and ENT. Everything else will be a special, additional, or "theme" stamp. These are meant to be fun or kind of playful stamps. Themes can range from what alien race you might be to what starship fits you best to what episode you might be. Also, although it was very popular, the reboot movie would fit into the theme category simply because there is not enough canon of its own to justify an entire stamp for itself.

Can I just be stamped for the themes?
No. You must first be stamped with at least one of the five official character stamps. This is not a new rule for starfleet_hq. This is, like, a universal stamping rule.

Have a question I didn't answer? Leave me a comment, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can! :)
