Day 1

May 18, 2009 20:17

His first shift under Kirk had ended and their journey had changed, but somehow everything felt right. They had been properly welcomed after their successful defeat of Nero, the new graduates were given a proper ceremony and the Enterprise had begun its first mission over who he now knew was its proper Captain.

As he left the deck and enter the turbo lift, the thought of all that had changed flooded back to him. There were still moments of weakness when he recalled just how it was the day that his home collapsed in on itself as if it never existed, taking one of the few things he cared about with it. His father told him to embrace these emotions, but more often than not he couldn’t bring himself to it. Perhaps this was the human emotion of shame, but breaking down about something that happened in the past felt like it had no purpose. Dwelling on his past was illogical.

When the turbo lift stopped, he went to the only place he knew he could find refuge, or at least see a few familiar faces without facing any of the Vulcan refugees. He entered the sliding grey door labeled “Officers Lounge”. He sat down on one of the lounges many couches, grabbed a nearby handheld computer and began going over the calculations he had began working on earlier in the day.
