i feel like shooting myself, even though i still like debian... I really think i like this too. but the ports and pkg_add systems are very out of date... how to you do something akin to a 'apt-get update' to update to the current package and ports databases?
okay, thats what i thought, but what happens when on a system you mix up software that was installed using pkg_add and ports? does it cause any issues when cvsup'ing and the following commands? I'm testing this all on a IBM Thinkpad 600 ( 300 mhz p2 ) so I can't be installing everything from ports while picking up as much info as i can about freebsd, within a decent amount of time.
