Hey Tenille! The book's out! I'm gonna see if the Coop in Harvard Square is not too literary and has it in stock today. Yay! (Confession: I have not finished reading the first 11 over again. I'm gonna be lost!)

This has been a rare edition of my "wake up and geek out like a teenager" posting series. You may get more as I read this book (if it's good ( Read more... )

I know! It's very exciting! *bounces* (I'm almost through book ten of the reread. So now I have a dilemma -- to skip ahead or not to skip ahead?)

One immediate disappointment: they're still using the same craptastic illustrator for the cover. Seriously, I don't know how that guy gets work--he's not good!

I think it's kind of a badge of honor at this point. I don't know that I would even recognize a WoT book with a good cover. This one may bump the Elvis Rand one off the top of the Worst list, though. I love the rock star pose! *facepalm*

It's almost like he recycled parts of The Dragon Reborn cover--he's so bad, he's phoning it in now!

Also, I would tell you to not skip ahead, but if it was me, I'd probably skip ahead.

Hee. I've seen that series in the bookstore so many times, and considered it, but I haven't taken the plunge yet. The one off-putting thing about these books is their insistence on using the word "vampyre." Just because you spell the word all gothy doesn't mean you are not writing teenage fluff, author lady!

I just read some of the book synopses--wow! That is total teenager drama, just with vampyres added in. Vampyres! I can't figure out if the authors or sisters or mother-daughter or what.

Hah! Yeah, the words "vampyre" or "childe" are a total deal-breaker for me when it comes to cheesy vampire fiction. I do have some standards, you know!

Ohhhh... I got an email to my phone last night, about this very item. I'd long ago given up on the series, due to my belief,
A) The series had gotten away from Jordan, and he didn't know how to end it.
B) I figured he was stalling for time, and that he'd die before finishing (I win!)
and,
C) goddamnit, I am not re-reading that whole fucking series (again!) until the thing is done!

Well, I guess it's time to get to re-reading again. I'll be back out of my reading-hole in about a month.
