Whoa, 4 months! What happened?

Mar 25, 2010 13:57

I can't believe it's been four months since I've written in here, especially since I check my friends page every couple of days. I guess it's time for me to admit that LJ has wound down for me. Frankly, if there was as much interaction here as there used to be, I'd be a lot more interested in maintaining this journal. I'm going to give serious ( Read more... )

Mmmm, spring food. I am super looking forward to some BBQs. And a trip to the People's Pint!

Totally looking forward to the first grill-out of the season! We considered it on Saturday, but ended up having lunch so late that we weren't really hungry in the evening. Next time we head out to People's Pint, I'm totally hitting up WEBS in Northampton. Also, I've recently heard about Montague, MA which is near Greenfield. It is apparently super adorable and has an amazing bookstore called The Bookmill.

I don't plan on deleting my journal, but I am very nostalgic for how LJ used to be--I loved it for the community aspect. It was so vibrant! If I was on vacation for a week it would be difficult to catch back up on everyone's posts when I returned.

But lately, my friends page will contain three or even four days worth of posts because so few people are writing. And when people do write, their posts tend to be status updates (which is pretty much what THIS post was!). It's almost as if LJ has become Facebook, and that's a bummer. I don't find Facebook good for engaging with people--it's merely a soundbite venue.

It's too bad that LJ management haven't worked harder to keep it in the forefront of people's minds--there are so many ways they could have connected themselves with some of the more popular social media outlets. It's kinda sad.

Man, I'm with you there. I use Facebook, but I definitely don't prefer it over LJ. I wish more people felt like us!

I think it's hilarious that your solution was to skim half the new book then continue the reread. :) Whatever works! We'll have to discuss when you're caught up for real...

Also: Facebook is the devil.

By skim I really meant jump to all the parts I thought were relevant than back to parts to understand what I read ahead of it then up to another part then wondered where Elayne was then re-read the Seanchan battle. And I might have read the Hinderstap thing twice. And I've read the end twice and teared up both times, but that's not news. I cry when I read the newspaper these days, so it's not an indicator of anything but my own wussiness.

I just used Facebook to write memorable lines from tonight's episode of 30 Rock, and then was made fun of by Eric for being the only commenter on my own status update. I don't know the rules!

Okay, that's even more hilarious. I could never read a book that way! I'm far too linear, I guess...

I haven't watched 30 Rock yet. Something to look forward to!

I'm always annoyed at how not linear those books tend to be. Like book 8! The beginning is all about Elayne and Co. getting out of Ebou Dar, and then nothing for, like, 400 pages! I wanna know what happens now!

I might have a patience problem.

I really like Twitter, for what I use it for at least. I follow local restaurants and foodies, Eric moreso than me, so we often know a lot about what's going on it that realm. We've discovered a lot of cool goings on that way. It's also fun to follow comedians on Twitter.

I was really looking forward to TNP this year but likely won't be going. :( I've seen them so many times in the past, so it's all good.

Bummer! Does their tour fall on a bad day for you guys? I'm hoping to be spared the very very bright flashing lights this go 'round!
