My old laptop is a Sony Vaio model PCG-9332. I would like to upgrade the memory. It currently has two 64 MB PC100 CL2 SO-DIMM cards. I'm assuming 144 pin since that seems pretty standard for notebooks, but I didn't count them. This page says that my maximum memory is 256 MB. Is that for one card or both of them put together ( Read more... )

This random page seems to be more clear that the absolute max is 256, with 128 max for each slot.

I'm thinking maybe I'll skip at least part of my very last saturday class (July 15) to come visit you again, (cuz my prof won't notice from the little TV if I'm not in Tulsa).

A visit would be awesome, if you think you can get away with it.

Since it's 128 MB per slot, I'm more likely to buy two. Of the memory recommended on your page (Kingston $43.96, Micron $31.96, BlackDiamond $25.96) is there a compelling reason not to get the cheap one or is there a better deal out there?

I'm pretty sure I can get away with it. :) The prof fell asleep in class last saturday. I'd leave right after lunch, so I'd get there around 3 or 3:30 and stay until you kicked me out or Sunday night.

I don't really know memory brands, maybe those puter ppl on yer frends list knows stuff about them.
There *might* be a better deal on pricewatch.com (i think that's the site)...

That's not very much RAM, 256MB. I didn't realize those older Vaios were so limited. I remember when that machine was a real speedster.

I always buy the better quality RAM. It's just me, but I don't trust cheap RAM.
