One word can sum up my weekend: WOW.
Wednesday, there was a cake for me at work. Yay for cool people to work with, and a delectable chocolate moussey concoction. Then when I got home, my mom and dad ordered Indian food, and it was soooooo delicious. My mom even baked me a cake! She hasn't done that for years, and it was totally yummy. Then I got my gifts.. a new tiny digital camera (yay!), $50 to Borders, and a coupon that my dad made for an unspecified amount of money so I can go buy bras. Whee! I was pretty disappointed that they didn't help buy me a car, but what they didn't understand is that now I'm gonna do it all by my lonesome - with or without their help.
I met a few of my friends at Temple Bar for my birthday. I arrived to find Paul sitting at a table in back with Jeremy and Kat. He handed me what I knew was a gift certificate to Express, and then I opened it - $80!! Holy cow it was too much, but I love Paul so I didn't kill him. Then Gabe stopped by, then Jeff, and eventually we reached Alan and after half an hour of arguing, begging, whining and cajoling, we managed to get him to meet us there. He arrived, looking great as always, and we all sat around and laughed and talked and enjoyed ourselves. When I had first gotten there, I bought my first drink. Paul wanted to, but I insisted.. I was 21 after all. I didn't get carded. Figures. Anyhow, I bought tequila shots for Jeremy and I, and a Midori sour for myself. It sucked. It was way too sweet, and not so much sour. Good thing I spilled half of it all over the place. Oops. When Paul went back for the next round, he bought me an apple martini. It was totally yummy, but once again they put a lime in it. Blech. I love lime in most things, but not along with my apple! :) Alright, so then Alan arrived, and wanted to buy me a shot, so tequila again! Woo! I'm getting to be an old pro when it comes to my man Jose Cuervo. He asked if I wanted another drink, and I declined on that round, but the next time we went into the bar he bought himself a black & tan, and bought me a Guiness. Apparently I'm a rare find since I'm a girl who likes dark beers.. go figure :p At 1am the bar closed, as it was a Wednesday night, so we all sat around in a circle in the parking lot and talked til 2am. Considering the only person I was originally supposed to be with that night was Paul, it was amazingly awesome to have all of my good friends in CT together, and have them all get along to the point where no one wanted to leave at the end of the night. Not being in Wisconsin, my birthday couldn't possibly have been better, and I was sorry it had to end, even though it meant that after I got home and packed I would take a nap and then get up to leave for my home. (Home this time being defined as "where the heart is".)
After having crashed at 3:15am, I set my alarm for 4:30, though for some reason it didn't go off. My dad came in at 5:01, and it was a mad dash to pack last minute items and get on the road (oops no time for a shower) by 5:30 to be at the airport by 6, since I had a 7:20 flight. (My 6am flight was cancelled. Yep. You heard me. Cancelled.) So, my new flight gets into Madison at 11:00, and a little before ten after I'm walking out of the gate area and into the arms of my Al, who is holding a very very beautiful rose. We put my stuff in the car, drove by my apartment to drop it off, said hi to my roomie and best friend Jessie, and then went off to Al's parents house so I could give my gift to his sister. is family got me something too, aromatherapy sugar scrub from the Body Shop, mmmm. Love it. Anyway, then Al, Caitlynn and I went to the Nitty Gritty for lunch and Caitlynn and I got our free mugs and Al bought my lunch and it was good. Then we went to the mall, where I found the killer red halter top I ended up wearing later that night. Figures that after having gone to every single store (mostly expensive designer places like Bebe and Guess)in the Stamford mall, trying on shirts more expensive than I could afford, and not finding a single stunning one, that I would find one in Madison, at the Limited, which was my absolute last stop before I was going to give up and wear something I had brought with me.
So, Al and I dropped Caitie off, then I went to the bank to deposit the check from my grandparents, then I went and bought new makeup because I needed it :) After this was done, we went back to my place because I was desperate for a shower, and let me tell you, that was one of the most refreshing showers of my life. So, then I got some for the first time in over a month, hooray! It was getting on time to get dressed and do my makeup when I realized I had no way of hiding any future nipple displaying incidents, so I ran real quick to the department store where I bought make-up and bought those cool little stickers. They call em Breast Petals. Corny as hell, but they worked! They also have nipple ENHANCERS! Jesus god, I hope I never WANT to be displaying my low body temperatures to anyone, but hey. So, I went back to my apartment, did my makeup, got dressed in my hot black pants and my hot red halter top, and put on my hot 3-inch sandals, and I looked hot. And I was ready to go. BUT! Jessie came in with a cake with 21 candles all lit, and my present, and they all (Dave, Jessie, Al) sang happy birthday and it was cute. Jessie hand-glass-painted me a shot glass, and had bought the cake, and a big bottle of Skyy Citrus. Dave gave me an awesome gift - a ThumbDrive! - and once that whole thing was done with we all piled into Al's car (all being Jessie, Al, Dave and myself) and drove to State St.
Now. This happened at Al's house when the other gift-trading was going on, but I wanted to put it all at the end so you'd know that I have a fantastic boyfriend.
Al got me a diamond pendant. And it's gorgeous. Thank you come again try the veal.
to be continued later so I can talk about my crazy birthday extravanganza in an entry all its own. God this series of entries about my weekend is gonna be long.
