Stargate Santa Wishlist, Year Two
You ever notice how these things are such good gauges of how much one has changed over a year? This is like to be substantially shorter than my list from last year. I'm not going to separate SG-1 from SGA because they're equally fairgame in my mind and crossovers would be perfectly fine. In fact, if you'd like to write the following crossover I'd be much appreciative:
"As the Atlantis expedition tries to recover from the devastation theWraith attack wreaked on the city and their population, they're facedwith a new enemy in the form of sinister advanced beings that may verywell be Ancients, and resort to once again calling the SGC for helpfrom their foremost expert (what little that is) on Ancient behaviour,Daniel Jackson." [That was a really long-winded way of saying that I'dlike to see the Atlantis team having to deal with Evil!Ancients duringthe S2 time frame. Ready-made summary!]
But to be a little less exact...
I prefer general fic with a focus on plot, action, violence, the science of science fiction, culture, cultural clash, exploration, tension, etc.
My favorite characters are: Daniel Jackson, Teal'c, Cameron Mitchell, Vala Mal Doran, Elizabeth Weir, Teyla Emmagen, John Sheppard, Radek Zelenka, Carson Beckett, Sgt. Bates, not necessarily in that order except for Daniel. I also like Carolyn Lam, Major Lorne, Janet Fraiser, Cassandra Fraiser, Halling and Jinto, Miko Kusanagi, Commander Kolya, Aiden Ford, Ronan, and Rodney to an extent.
My favorite groups of characters are Ancients, Genii, the Nox, Goa'uld System Lords, Abydonians, the Wraith, and a Somoa-based (or Pacific Islander in general, I just like Somoa and Aotearoa the most) Athosian interpretation.
If you're going to write the Ancients, I would love, beyond all reason, an exploration of the darker side of being Ancient and Ascended (two different things in my mind) and an exploration of when Daniel was Ascended as well as why the Ancients might have used him to force Oma's hand in 'Threads'. Also, the questionable experimentation that must have went into finding Ascension in the first place, etc. I'm just fascinated with this and there's almost no fic whatsoever exploring it.
I really have no interest in fic and/or art focusing on: Jack O'Neill, Sam Carter, Jacob Carter, Bra'tac, General Hammond, General Landry, Walter, Siler, Everett, Colonel Caldwell, Rodney McKay, various others that probably wouldn't occur to you to write/art. *laughs*
I don't actively dislike anyone but my 'no interest' list is a strong recommendation against.
If one does want to write a background pairing or a primary pairing then I prefer Daniel/Sha're, Cameron/OFC who he is married to (I like the idea of Cam having a wife and not being able to tell her about the SG program, what can I say?), Daniel/OFC, Elizabeth/Simon, Elizabeth/Radek, Elizabeth/Lorne (don't ask), Teyla/John, Teyla/John/Ronan, Daniel/Teyla.
I do not like, and under no circumstances want: Daniel/Vala, John/Rodney, Rodney/Teyla, Daniel/Cameron, Jack/Sam, Cameron/Vala.
I'm not against slash, by the way. Daniel/Teal'c or Daniel/Cameron would be fine, as would Elizabeth/Teyla, just not on my prefered ships list.
If my list didn't make it clear enough, by the way, I like original characters a lot. I also like AUs just FYI. I still really, really like plot and plotty fic makes me happy. I don't like overt humour (dark is fine, funny for the sake of funny is not), angst fic (dark fic is good, soap opera is bad), crackfic, hurt/comfort (with a happy ending at least) or fluff.
Oh and if you could manage a Stargate/Pitch Black-Chronicles of Riddick crossover? I'd love you.
As far as graphics go, the above applies plus I could really, really use a banner for my icon journal. If you're interested in knowing what style icons/graphics I like just go over to nihil_est and see what I've made. I make what I like. *laughs*
My desktop is 1280x1024 and I like almost any of the bands over at Always On the Run, so for either vidding (I would love you forever) or lyrical inspiration that's available.
I think that's everything, but I'm running out of time even if it isn't so cheers!
