Why This Must Be Read: Nobody does sheer team love like surreallis!
It's Sam and her boys in this episode tag to The Other Side, as she gets to do a little venting at her frustration at being put squarely between her CO and her fellow scientist. And Teal'c... well, he has that stupid chin caterpillar she can be annoyed about, right? :)
Delightful characterization, spot-on dialogue, and Surreallis' classic touch of deft humor - it's all here, and all gleeful!
She wants to pin them both with hard glares and tell them she's not just some good-girl soldier who always does as she's told. She wants to take that pissy tone that Jack takes when one of them does something he considers nuts. She wants to use it to tell Daniel that while, yes, she's a scientist and an allied soul and, yes, she is very willing to listen to him when Jack just won't; she will not confront Jack and question his authority in company that has yet to prove themselves friend or foe. So sue her, it's a military thing.
And then she wants to use that tone to tell the Colonel that while, yes, she's a soldier and she respects his leadership, and, yes, she understands the chain of command; she is not without her own opinions on the matter and she just will not back up his condescension toward Daniel nor be his personal flunkie whenever he wants a babysitter for the archeologist.
And then she wants to use the tone to tell Teal'c that... that... he should shave, damn it!
