News about Phase 8

We've had a fabulous run here, I have met some wonderful people and had some really good times. But like all good TV shows, there comes a time when things must end. So, it's with mixed emotions and a heavy heart that I announce that Phase 8 will be the final phase of stargateland

Oh wow, that's some sad news, this was my first landcomm and I had lots of fun here. :-( I'm just going to have to come back for the final hurrah, then.

I'm seriously saddened by this. This was my first landcomm and the one that led me to meeting a whole bunch of just wonderful, wonderful people. I'm so glad for the opportunity to meet all my friends and I'm sorry that we're closing down.

There are so many great people in the stargate fandom. I'm glad this place gave you a chance to meet some of them.

Sadly, we'll be closing. I want to end this community on a high note and not see it linger beyond it's prime. clubstargate will be continuing, and there may be added activities there going forward - depending on if folks volunteer to keep things going, etc.

I do hope that some Stargate fan somewhere spearheads the Next Great Thing (whatever that may be, probably not a landcomm I suspect) and then we can all join that comm, no? :)

Yeah, I guess I have no idea about what behind the scenes things are going on that would make this nearing the end of its prime. Thank you for the reply :)

The general feeling I've seen around LJ the past few months leads me to think that land comms in general are beginning to wane in popularity. There are still some that are running, of course, but they're not as OMGFUNFLAIL as they'd been in the past.

Overall participation here has steadily been decreasing as well. Although, I think we've got a better crowd here than some. I may be biased and not really know what I'm talking about anyway
