No Offense to "Hubbies" Everywhere

Jan 16, 2009 16:33

I am trying to decide if there is a single word in the English language I despise more than "hubby."

Urrrrrgh! It sets my teeth on edge just to type it!

There may be worse words, but I am hard-pressed to think of them now. Suggestions?

I hate when people use DH more. GOD I'm enraged just thinking about it.

Ha ha, poor "moist"! It always makes me think of armpits. Moist armpits, of course.

But it also reminds me of one of my favorite Zoolander quotes: "Moisture is the essence of wetness. And wetness is the essence of beauty."

prezzie-sounds childish and i think the zzz sound grates.

"loves" when applied to multiple partners. i think it deminishes the individuals involved.

"teh" used intentionally. not even as a joke.

i have others that i can't remember now.

Ack, your "prezzie" mention also reminds me of "preggers," which is also terrible!

Ha ha! At least "sippie-cup" is one where I can't think of a perfectly good synonymous alternative that doesn't offend the ears. "Infant's travel mug", maybe?

Heee! I think I developed my hatred for it from having to listen to it being used in a disgusting country song touting Family Values back when I worked out in the greenhouses.

Agh, "sippie-cup" as a song lyric for the over-five-years-old set?! Sounds awfully saccharine. No wonder you hate it!

"Panties" is pretty bad, too. You've talked about "panties" before, haven't you? Was that on Shapely Prose?

It reminds me of the Xanth books, where there was that whole pervy obsession with what color every female character's "panties" were. Then again, just about everything in those books was pervy.

Where the heck did "binky" come from, anyway? I remember first hearing it from one of my mom's daycare clients back in the 80s, and I thought it was unique to their family... until Everyone Everywhere started saying it!
