Ok, so everyone is going all crazy over the debate, and going all "I'm a Republican/Democrat, and I think Kerry/Bush sucks. He's an idiot, he isn't capable of running our country, etc..." I feel that livejournal deserves some of my elitist comments, also ( Read more... )

Oh my goodness, you're one of those people. The ones that will correct me when I say, "Me and my friend," instead of "My friend and I."

But for all the English teachers reading this, I do apologize. The "good" and "well" mistake is a common one, so I'm hoping they'll take some mercy on my soul.

i thought it was exciting because it was rather important. Well the first 30 minutes were exciting for me at least. Ya all bush had was inconsistant blah blah weong message to troupe inconsistant blah bullshit. In all honesty I am an extreme Kerry supporter becuase he is not Bush but i was expecting him to do horribly so i was totally not biased but he owned bush disgustingly. Bush was like uhhh uh uh ugh well im stupid. wohoo for Kerry. He's a very good speaker and he's very articulate and well prepared unlike bush who had one statement for the entire 2 hours. It was so funny. I was like that right Kerry you tell him. btw Bush resembles a monkey and an elf...

Did you notice their microphone stands? Bush's was about three inches, but Kerry's was a good seven or eight inches, since Kerry is about four inches taller than Bush.

I think a big microphone stand indicates who's the more powerful man.

I think kerry did an excellent job being cordial and staying on point better than bush. everyone knows these guys never answer the question the Jim asked them but Kerry stayed closer to it than Bush. ONe of the things that the anylists have been saying that I agree with is that Kerry had to come in there and say more than "bush has mis managed the war" and offer a counter idea and exit strategy. I like his Summit idea but I thik he should try to go mor ein depth the next oppertunity he has to explain more of what he will do on a shorter term timeline. That seems to be the key issue. The economy isnt bad enough that that could eclipse the war and I think that if Kerry is smart he will try to stay away from that until they tacle it in the third debate. I look forwards to Edwards making cheney look old and stiff. He has remarkable speaking skills as a trial lawyer should plus he is really the every man candidate with the closest ties to his constituency

That's really true. Kerry did do a better job of answering the questions. Bush skirted around the points a bit too much for my liking. As an unbiased observer (which I'm not, but I'll pretend) I would have like to see Bush be more specific. He was too general with his plans for the next four years and he didn't challenge the things Kerry said. He just attacked Kerry, but didn't defend himself when Kerry took the offensive. Not that I don't think Kerry could have been more specific, also. I don't think either of them did their best, but it was clear that Kerry did better.

Kerry did better but only being better than Bush is not that good. I personally dont expect Kerry to shine as a prime example of what I want in a president. Mostly as far as I am concerned he isnt BUsh and that is good enough for me. Ilike Edwards better and I hope he can use a few terms as VP to run one day himself. I think the real test will be the town hall debate where Bush is sure to screw up. Weather Kerry can avoid doing so as well remains to be seen.

LMAO. The faces Bush was making at Kerry were faces of like, "Damn, KERRY HAS NO IDEA WHAT THE FUCK HES TALKING ABOUT," How can you compare someone who has actually been president, to someone who has no idea of what he speaks? smart, reaallll smart.

Yeah, that's true. But still, Kerry has to go off something. He can't just sit there and say, "Well, I have no presidential experience, so..." I mean, I do think you're right. Kerry is underestimating the means it will take to end the war and things like that, but at least he has a plan to do something. I agree with his stance that there should have never been a war to begin with, and presidental experience or not, I think most of us know that we really didn't need to go to Iraq.

But the faces he made were classic.

Seriously. I can just see Cheaney yelling at Edwards, accusing him of being a bad senator and making bad decisions in Congress and all that other bullshit he says, grabbing his chest, falling over, and Edwards just standing there, waving at the audience and being the pretty boy he is.
