Does anyone know what ntvdm.exe means? Sometimes my computer completely jams up and I can't do anything - when I check the task manager to see what's hogging the brains that's what's running and it takes up 99 percent of my CPU. Sorry for taking so long to reply!

I think the problem is actually backwards: my computer is about four years old but I have some new programs (Norton and Office). I find that if I run a full system scan every day it's like the computer can relax and not try to run other scans when I'm doing things. Whatever was going on seems to have fixed itself. Maybe it's just fluke. Thanks for your help in any case. If it bombs again I might email you before chucking it out the window!
