The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. It's very well written.
The book version of Requiem for a Dream, it's better than the movie, and the movie is just about the best thing I've ever seen in my life.

You're far more well-read than I am, so I can't reccomend much that you haven't already read. Good luck. Let me know if anything is outstanding.

Those are wonderful books. Especially the Divine Comedy and The Things They Carried. Also, try:
