Hello StarKnuts patrons!!!  Here's our next installment of Harry's Birthday Blocks.

Here's the next crocheted block.  It's called Solid Stripe.   Here's how I changed colors but you can change colors whenever you want. It will be interesting to see what y'all come up with.

The knitted block is my own creation.  It reminds me of the Quidditch pitch.

For the knitted block, I did a seeded check pattern.  I wasn't quite sure how to do a 12" with 2 colors so I decided to make 4 -  6" blocks.  Here's the 6" seeded check pattern.

US 8 (5.0 mm)
Cast on 25 stitches

Row 1 ~ * K5 (P1, K1) twice, P1, rep from *, K5

Row 2 ~ * P5 *(P1, K1) twice, P1, rep from *, P5

Row 3 ~ repeat Row 1

Row 4 ~ repeat Row 2

Row 5 ~ repeat Row 1

Row 6 ~ repeat Row 2

Row 7 ~ *(K1, P1) twice, K1, P5, rep from *, (K1, P1) twice, K1

Row 8 ~ *(K1, P1) twice, K6, rep from *, (K1, P1) twice, K1

Row 9 ~ repeat Row 7

Row 10 ~ repeat Row 8

Row 11 ~ repeat Row 7

Row 12 ~ repeat Row 8

Repeat these 12 rows 2 more times.  Bind off.

Make 2 of each color for a total of four. Arrange as shown in pic & join using your favorite method.

Here's an option for a 12" seeded check if you want to use one color or experiment with 2 colors.

US 8 (5.0 mm)

Cast on 50 stitches

Row 1 ~ * K5 (P1, K1) twice, P1, rep from * 4 more times

Row 2 ~ * P5 *(P1, K1) twice, P1, rep from * 4 more times

Row 3 ~ repeat Row 1

Row 4 ~ repeat Row 2

Row 5 ~ repeat Row 1

Row 6 ~ repeat Row 2

Row 7 ~ *(K1, P1) twice, K1, P5, rep from * 4 more times

Row 8 ~ *(K1, P1) twice, K6, rep from * 4 more times

Row 9 ~ repeat Row 7

Row 10 ~ repeat Row 8

Row 11 ~ repeat Row 7

Row 12 ~ repeat Row 8

Repeat these 12 rows 5 more times.  Bind off.

Or another version of a 12" seed block.  Do which ever one you want & don't forget to have fun & show us your pics even if it's just progress of a previous block.
