I've been looking at the options to join my crocheted blocks & came across a few sites that show different methods. I think the first one is the one that gave me the greatest help. I think I'm gonna use the single crochet method to join mine together. Hope these help ( ... )

Thank you so much. I checked out all of the sites you listed. It is amazing how many methods there are to joining things. My blocks are all done in garter stitch. I think at this point, unless anyone has more suggestions for me, I will probably try the mattress stitch. I really don't want my joining stitches to show. Although, I did see a picture of the actual blanket that was on display at the Harry Potter exhibit. As far as I can see, on some of the blocks you can see large joining stitches. They were actually in a contrasting color so that they would show. It looked like a whip stitch. I guess the over all look they were going for was something definitely homemade by Mrs. Weasley. I keep procrastinating this project and I really really want to get it done. I worked so hard on the squares.

There are a lot of good options, and I think hermione_jean touched on all of them. I usually crochet my blocks together because it's fast, but if you want it to be really flat, I'd go for a whip stitch or similar. :)
