I am having such a hard time lately. I miss Sara so much. I guess its because there it talk of me getting a new dog. I just want Sara back. I dont want to go through this again but at the same time I think the boys need a dog. I know they miss her too. They will sniff her beds and walk around as if to look for her. I think a new dog will help me

I think a new dog could help you "get over" Sara, not that you won't miss her, but having a dog will give you back all the good things about having a dog. It might help you transition from desperately missing Sara all the time to just remembering her as the awesome dog that she was. But you shouldn't feel that you HAVE to get a new dog to fill that space right away. I like to think that getting new pets is never a replacement, it's a journey, just a progression, a life cycle. Stockton is still with us but if I were still living at home when she does pass away or has to be put down, I think I would want my parents to get another dog.
