I've found that history doesn't mean everything in a friendship. Just because two people have been through some stuff and come out together in the past, doesn't automatically mean that they'll continue to do that in the future

Having history can be a significant advantage in maintaining (or restarting) a friendship. The strongest friendships are often the longest, however that does not mean that they can be taken for granted. Friendship needs to be regulary nutured, shareing time, thoughts, & feelings, or else people can grow apart, and all you have left is nostalgia.
