It kinda sounds like he's withholding ("hiding"?) something that he thinks might be important enough to change your mind about him.
Or it might be he's a little more bold wrapped in the safe, protective, womb of the internet and the actual fruition of what might be something significant gives him pause.
Or he could just be a creep.
I don't know if there is any actual advice in there, but take it for what it is :)

It's funny you should say that because that is how I feel a lot of the time; as though he is hiding something. But then again, he may just be ambigious by nature, which is what he says.
So by the actual definition of the word, it may not be advice, but definately considered pearls of wisdom, so thank you :o)
