I love You Are. And I completely agree -- Riot Act is underrated and some critics bash it, but I think it's wonderful.

it's so complex and beautiful! i found that it's awesome to listen to the entire album when i'm taking a walk in the dark. i think it is my favorite PJ album. i wonder if it just wasn't well received critically because it's different from other PJ albums...?

I think that might be it. Pearl Jam was transitioning into a more 'mature' sound [that's what most people say].

Personally, I just connect with each album, but Riot Act does stand by itself. It was different but in a good way, of course :).

agreed! it also kinda reminded me of when r.e.m. became more experimental and wasn't well received by the public. and since r.e.m. is my all time favorite, i think that's why i connect with riot act so much. 'cropduster' sounds like it could be on 'life's rich pageant'!
