Feeling self-conscious

I sent some photos to my parents a few weeks ago, and my mom could not stop talking about how huge I've gotten. She even told me that she showed it to other people, and that they all said things like, "When is she due again?" and "Are they sure it's only one baby in there ( Read more... )

:(

I already turn into a hyper-sensitive mess when I go through hormone fluxes during PMS...I can't imagine what it'd be like during pregnancy. I'm pretty sure, however, I've mentioned to a few people "Wow, you're nearly due, aren't you?" out of sheer excitement and not criticism...but...yeah. Hearing it is a completely different story.

This is coming from a person who gets incredibly defensive and insulted when her husband asks, "Did you go to the gym this morning?" Even though it's asked out of sheer curiosity and not asked as a "checking up on your weight loss progress" question. *sigh*

Hang in there! Can't wait :)

I don't know if the comments on the size of my belly would bother me if I weren't gestationally diabetic. My blood sugar goes wacky when I'm pregnant, so I have to eat a special restrictive diet and monitor my blood sugar level four times a day otherwise the baby could get too big. So "big baby" is something I'm kind of hyper aware of and have a guilt complex about. When people point out that I'm looking large, it is hard not to feel it as "that baby is gigantic and it's all your fault."

(Actually though, I had an ultrasound at my appointment yesterday and baby is measuring exactly average. So, maybe it will bother me less now. I hope!)

Plus, it's strange how people feel so free to comment on your body when you're pregnant. It's already no longer your own. And you get reminded of that a lot once it becomes a topic of public discussion.

Anyway...I can't wait for be done either. Still hoping for you guys to have some luck, too. Trying to conceive is a huge emotional roller coaster.
