It has been a very long week, and today in particular has been a very long day, with several ups and downs; the lowest of the downs has undoubtedly been finding out at the Fifth Avenue Apple Store GeniusBar that the flashing icon when my Mac refused to start up properly meant catastrophic hard drive failure. ...that is so horrifying that i just wanted you to know i'm really sorry it happened to you. hard drives are HORRIBLY unreliable and prone to failure at all times (i am told the miracle is that they even work at all) and yet, how many of us back up our drives? definitely not me ;_; if mine fails i'm screwed too.

so yeah, this is so useless, but...condolences. and buy an external HD? you can get 300gig pretty cheap these days, if you wait for a sale or look online...

T_T How horrible! I was afraid I lost all my data when my computer went through boot disk failure earlier this summer, but I was able to rescue it in the end. Do the Mac people say that nothing was retrievable? ;_;

But congrats on the new laptop at least. Black MacBook = very cool. ^_^ (Have you played around with the built-in cam yet?)

I-I'm scared for my laptop now. It's two years old and horribly, horribly worn.
