Hello, everyone.
I am not pointing fingers, because the current culprit is not a part of this community and my guess is she has no idea that she's chewing up my bandwidth the way she's using her banner.
But, I do think this is a good opportunity to point out that...yes, Photobucket DOES let you track where your bandwidth goes.

take a look at this nifty graph )

Really, if people don't know how to host their own graphics elsewhere (and I think that's a real issue!), I would be happy to help people set up Photobucket or other graphics hosting accounts as I'm sure you would rather than seeing your own graphics disappear if the account goes over bandwidth.
*thinks maybe it's time to write up a 'how to host your own graphics' tutorial*

Yeah. I don't belong to the forum-don't read enough fanfic to make it even worth my time-but I think something needs to be said over there, because that forum gets a ridiculous amount of traffic.
I'd definitely link to your tutorial :D

They're very good about enforcing a "no-spoiler signature" policy and I think they might even have a total size of signature policy but it's probably not saying anything about filesize and I know they don't enforce any oversight about hotlinking (though they discourage that).

I did brush off my DI account long enough to send a message to her about it. I renamed the file and told her it was still available if she would save it to her own account.

For now that particular graphic has been renamed and if they want to retrieve it, it's still on the post where she got it from with a big DO NOT HOTLINK memo underneath it. I could've just talked to her, but...well, I guess I wanted to make a point. Heh.
