Learn how to go from

to

in PSCS (contains selective coloring)

1. Take your original image and crop it to your liking.

2. Duplicate your base and set it to screen at 100%.

3. Duplicate your base again and set it to screen, only this time at 30%.

4. Create a new layer and flood fill with #07014B; set it to soft light.

>>

5. Duplicate your base and set it to screen at 100%.

6. Create a new layer and flood fill with #07014B; set it to soft light. (Yes, 4 and 6 are the same instructions)

>>

7. Make a new color balance adjustment layer (Layers >> New Adjustment Layer >> Color Balance) and on the midtones, set it to the following levels:

and it will come out looking like this:

8. Create a new layer and flood fill with #3BB878; set it to soft light.

>>

9. Make a new hue/saturation adjustment layer (Layers >> New Adjustment Layer >> Hue/Saturation) and on the master palette, up the saturation to +35.

10. Make a new selective color adjustment layer (Layers >> New Adjustment Layer >> Selective Color) and use the following settings:
Reds
Cyan: -100%
Magenta: 100%
Yellow: 100%
Black: 0%
Yellows
Cyan: -100%
Magenta: 0%
Yellow: 100%
Black: 0%
Neutrals
Cyan: 50%
Magenta: 0%
Yellow: -40%
Black: 0%and after all that, make it 40% opacity. After that, it should look like this:

11. Duplicate the selective color layer and set it to multiply. Make sure it is still at 40% opacity.

12. Then I took this wonderful texture by peoplemachines and resized it, played with it, sharpened it, duplicated it, then set it to screen.

13. Lastly, just to put a little bit of contrast back into it, make a new brightness/contrast adjustment layer and play with the settings to suit your icon. I went -13 on the brightness and +11 on the contrast.

And viola! Please let me know if this tutorial was helpful for you and what you think. Thanks!
